Winter Warmer

I have quite a few quilts in progress, but this one was a special request so jumped the queue.  I plan on making some Christmas table runners and hope I still have time to make them.

If you look closely you can spot another Pure Baby Quilt and a Wild Rose Postage Stamp Quilt in progress.

I used a Moda scrap bag containing A Simpler Time to make this Lap quilt.

This is the front...

And this is the back...

I plan to quilt using straight lines.

Finished just in time for winter...

Catching up

I finally decided to start a blog.  After a couple of false starts have decided to quickly run through my early works and progress to date.

Inspiration for quilting came from my auntie Louie who makes them for family and her local church bazaar.  Her grandchildren have also caught the bug.  I learnt from a distance by e-mail and you tube tutorials.

My 41st birthday present was a sewing machine.  I have never owned or used a sewing machine before, but wanted one to hem trousers and make curtains - I am still learning!

Here goes, my first quilt made from some scrap material I bought from eBay.  A disappearing nine patch called Quintessentially English.  This one started out much bigger until I realised I needed to be precise with cutting the material.

Next I got side-tracked with a kitting project. While out looking for some thread I spotted a lovely baby blanket which I had to knit for my niece Amanda who had just had her first baby Will.

After seeing my handiwork, Mike my other half asked me to make a fruit bowl cover.  I used a charm pack for this one, but had some trouble with the binding.

My next project was another disappearing nine patch quilt I called Japanese Garden.  My cutting had improved - I learned my lesson.

I found the Moda Bake Shop and decided my next project should use pre-cuts.  This quilt is called Will's Quilt and I followed a recipe on the Moda Bake Shop! Thanks Teaginny!

I was very pleased with this one.  I used postage stamps for the front, and coins for the back of this quilt.

The fabric was Moda Pure and was quite difficult to source in the UK.
